Bob Hoover is a pilot who served in World War II, later becoming involved in aerobatics. He is credited for flying next to Chuck Yeager, who was flying the Bell X1 on the mission to break the sound barrier. This video here is very famous and widely distributed. A barell roll in an aircraft (If done right) is a 1G manoeuvre, meaning there are no load forces acting on the plane during the roll. Disclaimer: I do not hold any ownership or copyright to footage or audio of Bob Hoover performing aerobatic manoevres, nor have I made, making or seeking to make profit from it. This video is simply intended to be informative. All copyright belongs to its rightful owners [BBC Motion Gallery (MVR)], and as such, they receive royalties for this video.

BalasHapusI cant fucking drink water without spilling when plane is in turbulence!!! lol
BalasHapusThe definition of badass
BalasHapusThis crazy ass mother fucker. I envy him.
BalasHapusBAMF
BalasHapusNO SUCH THING AS CENTRIPITAL FORCE, ITS... some shit...
BalasHapusWay to be scientific, Einstein.
P.S. Centripital force is the correct term. wiki/Centripetal_force
2:12 for the trick
BalasHapusThere is no such thing as a centripital force, it's only a vector or some shit like that.
BalasHapusOh centripetal force, you so silly...
BalasHapusNope.

BalasHapuscool video, but how much did you have to pay for this (BBC) video license to put ads on it?!
looking forward to an answer. greetings
Bob's US licence was revoked and as far as I am aware he has a current Australian licence!!~!
BalasHapusWe finally found the father of Chuck Norris
BalasHapusOn 1/24/12, Bob celebrated his 90th birthday. Happy Birthday, Bob!!
BalasHapusI've seen him perform his air show routine many times, and it was always a thrill to watch!
Yeah, it'd involve tea...coming back up.
BalasHapusI have personally seen Bob Hoover perform his dead stick loop. Truly precise.
BalasHapusDO A BARREL ROLL
BalasHapusActually, a barrel role is never a 1G maneuver, only a properly executed aileron roll is.
BalasHapusBob Hoover aint no joke in the cockpit of his Shrike!! A legend right there!
BalasHapusNegative, during a barrel roll the G-force is kept positive, but NOT constant, between about 0.5 and 3.
BalasHapusThe reasons why he manage to fill the glass are basically 2:
1) the G-force is kept positive (although not constant);
2) the resultant force is kept parallel to the airplane's yaw axis, thanks to his amazing flying skills. That's why the liquid inside the glass is steady like it was on a kitchen table.
bob is the 'man" when it comes to being a pilot! he hung out in my front yard one time checking out my home made centrifuge. 20yrs earlier, I got to sit right, seat after his show at reno air races with the engines still crackling... will never forget that! He had quite a show with the nazis in america ... (FAA)
BalasHapusDamm....... A loop & roll while dead stick. Crap he's good.
