This is an absolute GIANT of a man, walking among tiny midgets, begging our pardon with every gentle, gracious step he takes. God bless you Bob Hoover!
7:49 I had always heard about him being able to pour a cup of coffee while he rolled the aircraft. That's the first time I've ever seen it. Outstanding.
Took some hot air balloons to DuPage airport back in the 70's for the balloon pilots. Had to wait past dark, which did not please my wife and kids...Did not know, we were to go to the dinner in a hanger. Sat next to the Blue Angels and Golden Knights, with Bob Hoover across the table! I will never forget how the Angels and the Knights were asking my wife all about the balloons! I had explained them to her and she did fine. Can't forget that one day ever!
What a LOVELY chap, and so modest, too....hahah! he was airsick, in the beginning, like Nelson was seasick, and it is strange how often the very best people have inauspicious beginnings! what a great guy.
I've had the honor of meeting Bob at an air show in Hanover, Germany in the 60's. He invited me into his trailer and we talked for a while when he said, "please excuse me, I've got to do a show. Make yourself comfortable. See you when I get back." I've never forgotten his hospitality and kindness. A true gentleman and an aviation icon.

AWESOME! I had the pleasure of meeting this man in 1985 I believe. I remember at the time, as I do now....this man is a living legend! Very well dressed and cordial.....I found Hoover to be a very respectable man and easy to talk with. He is a true American hero and I wish I had more time with him!
